V.L. Carlile Enterprises was established in 1998 by Victor Carlile with a focus on delivering home and property inspection services primarily tailored for real estate transactions. As the demand for inspection services burgeoned on both national and local scales, homeowners increasingly sought resilient and secure structures for their families' welfare. In response to this evolving demand, V.L. Carlile Enterprises diversified its offerings to encompass home energy auditing and environmental testing services. Subsequently, in 2002, the company underwent a rebranding initiative, transforming into Carlile Home and Property Services Inc. to better encapsulate its expanded service spectrum.
Over the ensuing 15 years, Carlile Home and Property Services Inc. distinguished itself by conducting comprehensive inspections and testing procedures for myriad clients. Our company's foundation rested upon principles of impartiality, expertise, and unwavering dedication to serving our clients.
In 2011, Jacob Carlile established Carlile Architects LLC, forging a synergistic relationship with Carlile Home and Property Services Inc. Over the ensuing 6 years, both entities leveraged their collective experience and diverse talent pool, thereby augmenting the depth of knowledge offered, setting us apart from competitors. Recognizing the distinct expertise each entity brought to the table within the built environment sector, our collaborative efforts culminated in the seamless provision of unparalleled technical and design services.
In 2017, Jacob assumed controlling interest of Carlile Home and Property Services Inc. In an effort to more effectively brand the comprehensive suite of services offered by both entities, the Carlile Group was conceived. Subsequently, in 2020, Carlile Group expanded its portfolio with the launch of Carlile Property Management, extending its purview to encompass real estate management services for both internally and externally owned investment properties. Presently, Carlile Group remains committed to delivering a diverse array of services, including inspection, design, environmental, and property management solutions, catering to clientele spanning residential, commercial, institutional, civic, and light industrial sectors.
Looking ahead, Carlile Group aspires to emerge as the preeminent provider of professional services in the realm of building infrastructure. MANAGING PRINCIPAL
Jacob, the Managing Principal of the Carlile Group, assumes responsibility for the firm's day-to-day operations. Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Studies from Southern Illinois University, Jacob brings a wealth of expertise to his role. With a career spanning architecture, inspection, and management disciplines, he has served a diverse clientele, including private owners, developers, and public sector entities.
Jacob's professional credentials include Architectural licenses in the State of Illinois, Indiana, Texas, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and holds membership in the prestigious American Institute of Architects. Furthermore, Jacob is recognized as a Plan Reviewer certified by the International Code Council, underscoring his commitment to upholding industry standards and regulations.
Kyle Eliakis, Assoc. AIA
ARCHITECTURAL TECHNICIAN & LICENSED INSPECTOR
Kyle assumes the role of Architectural Technician and licensed Inspector within the Carlile Group, bringing a wealth of expertise to his position. Holding both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Architecture from Southern Illinois University, Kyle possesses a robust educational background.
Throughout his career, Kyle has been involved in a myriad of design projects encompassing new construction, renovations, and additions across various sectors, including commercial, civic, healthcare, and residential markets. His contributions to these endeavors have been marked by a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering innovative solutions.
In addition to his architectural acumen, Kyle is a licensed Home Inspector in the state of Illinois. Leveraging this certification, he conducts thorough assessments of existing buildings, primarily catering to real estate transactions and pre-design services. Kyle's multifaceted skill set underscores his dedication to ensuring the safety, functionality, and integrity of built environments.
John Ratliff
CAD TECHNICIAN & LICENSED INSPECTOR
John is an invaluable asset to our team, boasting an impressive 36 years of technical expertise. His wealth of experience is instrumental in providing comprehensive design and drafting support to our architecture team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outputs. In his role as CAD manager, John plays a pivotal role in establishing and enforcing standards and protocols, thereby enhancing operational efficiencies and maintaining accuracy across projects.
Furthermore, John holds an Illinois license as a Home Inspector, further diversifying his skill set. Leveraging this qualification, he conducts meticulous assessments of existing buildings, with a primary focus on facilitating real estate transactions and pre-design services. John's multifaceted contributions underscore his commitment to excellence and his ability to deliver exceptional results across various facets of our operations.
Jacob Newton
ARCHITECT INTERN & CERTIFIED PLAN REVIEWER
Jacob fulfills the role of Architect Intern at Carlile Group, where he offers vital architectural support encompassing the design, selection, coordination, and detailing of architectural materials and systems. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the esteemed Illinois Institute of Technology, Jacob's academic background equips him with a solid foundation in architectural principles and practices. Furthermore, Jacob is actively pursuing certification and licensure from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), demonstrating his commitment to professional development and industry standards.
In addition to his architectural responsibilities, Jacob is certified by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Plan Reviewer. In this capacity, he serves as a trusted third-party reviewer for building permit applications submitted by the jurisdictions served by our team. Jacob's dual expertise underscores his versatility and dedication to ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while delivering innovative architectural solutions.
Matthew Gagnon
ARCHITECTECTURAL TECHNICIAN
Matthew contributes to our team as an Architectural Technician, specializing in the production of construction drawings and design visualization using a range of drafting software. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Studies, complemented by a minor in Construction Management & Operations from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Matthew's academic background provides him with a solid foundation in architectural principles and construction management practices, enabling him to effectively translate design concepts into tangible, functional structures. His proficiency in drafting software allows for the creation of precise and comprehensive documentation essential for project execution and coordination. Matthew's dedication to delivering high-quality work contributes significantly to the success of our architectural endeavors.
Mikayla Zakutansky
CAD TECHNICIAN
Mikayla plays a pivotal role within our firm as a CAD technician, responsible for delivering comprehensive design and documentation services to support our architecture team. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role, having earned her Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Engineering from Olivet Nazarene University.
Currently, Mikayla is furthering her education and professional development by pursuing a Masters of Architecture degree program at Ball State University. This commitment underscores her dedication to expanding her skill set and staying abreast of the latest advancements in the field.

Marquise Collins
CAD TECHNICIAN
Marquise holds a pivotal position in our firm as a CAD technician. He assists our architectural team by creating detailed technical drawings, plans, and blueprints based on the architect's designs and specifications. These drawings include floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details, which serve as the foundation for every project. Marquis also assists with turning initial sketches and concepts into detailed drawings, ensuring that the design intent is accurately represented in the technical documentation.
Currently residing in Kankakee, but originally from Chicago, Marquise attended the University of Illinois, Chicago, pursing a degree in Architecture. His future plans include completing his degree and NCARB certification.
Amy Smithberg
OFFICE MANAGER
Amy assumes the critical role of office and operations manager within the Carlile Group, where she oversees a spectrum of essential functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, human resources, administration, and marketing. Drawing from her extensive professional background, Amy's expertise ensures the smooth and efficient functioning of our organizational infrastructure.
Prior to her tenure with the Carlile Group, Amy served for over seven years as a Department of Defense contractor, specializing as a supply administrative specialist at the Marine Raider Battalion, Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. Her experience in this capacity instilled in her a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence that she brings to her current role.
Amy's professional credentials include a CPI Yellow Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma, an MS Excel Intermediate Certificate, and certification in the Marine Corps Ground Combat Support Services Oracle system. These certifications underscore her dedication to continuous improvement and proficiency in key operational tools and systems.
Dale Hoge
PROPERTY ACCOUNT MANAGER
Dale plays a pivotal role as Property Account Manager, overseeing numerous investment portfolios and millions of dollars in real estate assets for our Property Management team. Dale’s responsibilities encompass the coordination of operations, supervision of building maintenance, repairs/upgrades, rent collection, as well as managing vendor and contractor coordination, tenant screening, and property budgets.
Dale assists owners in achieving their goals of building a steady investment income while reducing the burden of daily property operations. His role plays an integral part of the team's working bridge between owners and tenants. As the intermediary between property owners and tenants, Dale fosters effective communication and resolves any conflicts or issues that may arise. He strives to maintain tenant satisfaction while safeguarding the interests of property owners, thereby enhancing the overall value of the investment portfolios under his management.
Nick Henshaw
MAINTENANCE
Nick plays a vital role within the Carlile Group's Property Management team, contributing his expertise to our Maintenance Department. His responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, including building and unit repairs, interior and exterior maintenance, and enhancements. Additionally, Nick serves as a liaison with vendors, inspectors, and contractors to guarantee that our managed portfolios effectively address tenants' requirements while safeguarding property values and owners' interests.
One of Nick's primary objectives is to ensure the provision of safe, well-maintained rentals for our tenants, thereby alleviating the burden of repairs and maintenance projects for property owners. By prioritizing tenant satisfaction and property upkeep, Nick exemplifies our commitment to delivering exceptional property management services while fostering positive landlord-tenant relationships.
Melissa Marcotte
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
In her capacity as Business Development Coordinator, Melissa assumes a pivotal role within the Carlile Group, spearheading various initiatives to drive growth and enhance the firm's market presence.
