HISTORIC PRESERVATION

Carlile Architects collaborates with communities in their endeavors to preserve the authenticity and highlight the historical significance of their built environment. We appreciate historical precedent and values our cultural heritage.

PRESERVING authenticity

We are committed to preserving and protecting our built environment and we have extensive experience in façade restoration, historic preservation, evaluation, and reuse of historic structures.

Our firm has extensive experience performing façade examinations and determining appropriate and sensitive means to correct them. We have performed critical examinations of facades on many historic and aging structures in the midwest and have addressed deficiencies ranging from failed roofs, spalling masonry, failed veneer and support connections, corroding steel façade components, delaminated and displaced facades, and settlement cracking, among others.

The Carlile Group has helped local municipalities and organizations work to preserve historical architecture through adaptive reuse, drafting nominations for inclusion in local and national historic registers, and providing architectural evaluations and design for stabilization and rehabilitation of deteriorated components.  The Carlile Group has experience working with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the National Park Service in order to incentivize restoration through state and federal tax credits.
